The Rel are god-like beings of unimaginable cruelty. They care not for life—only for the cycle of ruin. Long ago, they took ancient species and twisted them. They changed their genes, then slaughtered most of them. Two of each were spared—but locked in warped worlds. These are the Zathur Cycles. Worlds of endless conflict. Civilizations rise and fall. Always two. Always war.

From the ashes, two new species always emerge. The Rel made it this way. No peace. No end. When all is lost, it starts again—from stone to fire. Why they do this, no one truly knows. They are not gods. They are the watchers. The torturers. The architects of pain. To them, war is beauty. And suffering... the point.
